The Spread Eagle Hotel has a membership program and collects mobile phone numbers from their members. They have always used email to market and communicate with their members, but were curious to see how their members would respond to mobile marketing.

SMS has an exceptional open rate at 94%, compared to the 32.4% open rate of email, so there’s no surprise any marketer would want to try using SMS for their promotion. While email has the flexibility of presenting a message with different visual elements and rich content, our new SMS Landing Pages product now enables marketers to deliver the same kind of fully branded messages with visually appealing images via SMS.

So in preparation for the Melbourne Cup day, the Spread Eagle Hotel sent an SMS Landing Page message to their members. This involved using our Messaging Studio to build a tailored web page that is specifically designed for mobile users, with a clear call-to-action button to guide recipients to take the desired action.

How did the Spread Eagle Hotel’s SMS Landing Page work?

About a week before the Melbourne Cup, the hotel sent its members a personalised text message with a link to the SMS Landing Page. The landing page was built with attractive graphics and contained all the information including time, ticket price and what was included for the day; with a clear call-to-action button that took the users to their online booking system where they could make a booking straight away.

The results were fantastic, with bookings coming through almost instantly. What started as a trial with no expectation quickly became a pleasant surprise.

SMS Landing pages have a more personal and emotive touch, stimulating recipients to take action right then and there. The call-to-action buttons also make it very easy for people to act on the request, contributing to a great conversion rate.
