The AT Work ethical recruitment agency has 18 branches across the North East and London. It fills 3,000 posts a year and has 10,000 people on its register. This is a competitive industry - agencies need to keep in touch with registered clients but also have to be cost conscious.
Alex Seewald says;
"One of our biggest problems is trying to get hold of people. So often they’re just not available. But now using Esendex’s Web SMS we send them a text message saying we have a suitable job for them and asking them to contact us. And most people do. They seem to respond to text messages better than anything else - better even than leaving voice messages on their phone. It’s obviously something people are comfortable with. It’s saving us thousands of phone calls a month - that means time and money.

Now At Work is looking at other ways of exploiting the new system. One idea being considered is to use it as a marketing device to promote the agency and prompt clients to get in touch. Alex says:
"We can send out messages to 500 registered clients at a time saying 'we've got lots of jobs - come in to your local office and see."
