Send and Receive SMS to the USA
SMS usage in North America has until recently, lagged behind the GSM markets of Europe and Asia. Despite a slow start, SMS is starting to take off at a rapid rate and is increasingly accepted as a legitimate business communication service.
We’ve recently launched a number of enhancements to support these markets which are now available both within our standard SMS services and a series of bespoke services.
Standard SMS Services
Advanced routing means that all our SMS services (Web SMS, Email SMS etc) now support excellent “send-only” coverage to the USA.
Unlike in our other markets, we are unable to provide US or Canadian Virtual Mobile Numbers or support customised message sender IDs. Network restrictions also mean that we cannot support delivery receipts in these markets.
Esendex Alert
This is the most cost-effective way to support 2-way SMS in these markets. Esendex uses a shortcode and each customer is allocated a unique keyword for their account. Existing SMS services can be enabled to support the Esendex Alert feature.
To ensure we adhear to the network’s regulations, end-users must first have opted in to receive SMS messages and we provide a number of mechanisms to support this.
Esendex Alert customers benefit from enhanced network coverage.
Dedicated Code
For those customers who do not want to use a shared short code, a Dedicated Code is a realistic option. As with the Esendex Alert service, this service offers the highest possible levels of network coverage.
Dedicated Codes can also, subject to network approval, be enabled for Premium Rate SMS services.
USA SMS Prices
Regardless of the service option that you use, SMS message charges to the US and Canada are identical to our standard pricing models. There’s also no extra service charge for using our standard service to send to the US. We do levy a small monthly charge for our Esendex Alert service and Dedicated Codes are priced on a cost pass-through basis. More information is available in our prices section.
